INTEGRITY FIRST

Nominated by the Republican Party

I’m Running for Public Defender.

In America, nothing is more important than your constitutional rights. Our community needs a strong criminal justice system but not at the expense of your rights to liberty, privacy, to vote, own a gun, enjoy due process or have a fair trial.

You may never be charged with a crime, but it could happen to your neighbor, nephew or family friend. If your loved ones are charged with a crime but cannot afford to hire an attorney, the Public Defender is the first lifeline to protecting constitutional rights. The Public Defender is a licensed, court-appointed attorney who performs the same duties as private counsel.

I worked in the Sarpy County Public Defender’s Office for 10 years, and I have 15 years of trial experience. I have represented over three thousand clients on charges ranging from traffic to homicide. I have a fearless practice style and take cases to trial whenever necessary. I believe defense attorneys must “work up“ cases to get the best result for their clients. This can be achieved primarily through a Public Defender’s own hard work and diligence, as opposed to wasteful use of tax-funded resources.

I’ve heard people say public defenders are overworked and underpaid, and cannot match the dedication of a private attorney. For me there is no greater honor than proving that misconception wrong. I am experienced, fiscally responsible, and an honest leader. I am running for office to ensure everyone in Sarpy County receives quality legal representation.

When the County Board asked my opponent to resign from Office this past term, and was forced to spend $64,978 taxpayer dollars to investigate his misconduct in Office, I knew it was time for me to step up to the plate and run for this position. I am proud to say I am the only candidate in this race who is endorsed by the Sarpy County Republican party.
